A number looks wrong. The fastest route to a fix is to match what you are seeing against the list below - each page collects one family of symptoms, with the checks in the order worth trying.
- Import problems - my total is nowhere near my broker's right after importing, a position still shows shares I sold, the import summary flagged warnings.
- Problems with specific brokers - the export traps behind Interactive Brokers, Degiro, XTB, Revolut, Trade Republic, Schwab, the Polish brokers and the crypto exchanges.
- Balances and cash don't match - my balance is off by a few euros, my cash is negative, a negative-balance warning on a position, UK holdings look 100x out.
- Returns and charts look wrong - my return doesn't match my broker or another tracker, a spike in the chart, -100%, 0% on a property, NaN.
- Prices, symbols and market data - a price looks stale or plain wrong,
Some results may be stale..., a delisted or renamed ticker, a split that changed the share count. - Dividends missing or wrong - a dividend is missing, the amount doesn't match my statement, income reads zero.
- Troubleshooting the app - the app won't load, it freezes, or two devices show different numbers for the same portfolio.
Import problems - a file that won't parse, rows the preset skipped, duplicates after a second import - are covered where the import is: Import from a broker or app and Duplicates and re-importing. If you can't get into the app at all, see Your account and signing in. When nothing here fits, Getting help lists the diagnostics worth sending us.
How to verify your data
Check share quantities against your broker statement first - the triage in order is in Import problems.
Before you file a tax return
A broker import is a good foundation for tax numbers, but verify it once a year before filing. Confirm buy and sell amounts against your broker statements. Check the Tax Paid amount on each dividend against what was actually withheld, and replace auto-generated dividends with the ones from your broker file, which are more accurate - duplicates can be removed in bulk, see Avoiding duplicates.
For foreign-currency transactions, confirm the conversion rates match what your tax authority requires; the exchange-rate columns in the Taxes Due report show which rates were used. Finally, compare the Taxes Due totals against your broker's annual tax statement before filing. Small residual differences are usually FX-rate timing between data sources, and tax authorities generally treat them as immaterial.
